MoShams: A Five-Suite Mountain Retreat in the Garhwal Himalayas

Luxury by design. Boutique in nature. Rooted to the Himalayas.

Neither a hotel, nor a homestay, MoShams is a five-suite mountain retreat in Dagar village, near Narendra Nagar, Uttarakhand. Set at around 1,100 metres in the Garhwal hills, it is just 30 minutes from Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport and 30 minutes from Rishikesh, yet feels a world away from the crowds.

The Story

MoShams was created by Mohit and Sharmila, two lifelong hoteliers who spent decades with leading hotel brands before building a place of their own. Their belief was simple: hospitality can be more personal, more rooted and more real. Today they host every guest themselves, sharing chai on the deck, planning days around each guest's interests and introducing travellers to the Garhwal they call home.

Five Suites, Five Elements

Each suite is inspired by one of the Panchtattva, the five elements of life: Vaata (air), Aksha (sky), Neera (water), Dhara (earth) and Tapasa (fire). Every suite opens to sweeping valley views, with large windows, private balconies and interiors designed to bring nature indoors. Some suites feature private plunge pools or balcony bathtubs. A dip pool surrounded by forest, a reading corner and an open deck for sunsets complete the property.

Food Cooked for You

MoShams does not run Resort in Narendra Nagar Uttarakhand a buffet. With only five suites, the kitchen cooks for the people actually staying, using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Guests can enjoy authentic Garhwali dishes such as chainsoo, kafuli, mandua roti and jhangora, alongside North Indian favourites, South Indian breakfast classics and Italian dishes like wood-fired thin-crust pizza. Vegetarian meals are always available, and Jain food is available on request. Off-menu requests are welcomed whenever possible.

Experiences

Slow living is at the heart of MoShams. Signature experiences include village walks through Dagar, a Pahadi hi-tea with the hosts, breakfast above the valley, chef's masterclasses, jungle picnics and curated celebrations for special occasions.
